Shanta Renee Johnson was born on June 22, 1981, to the late Dianne Johnson and the late James Johnson. She departed this life on February 21, 2020 in York, PA.
Shanta was educated in the Queen Anne’s County Public School System and graduated from Queen Anne’s County High School in 1999. She went on to take college classes at Chesapeake College in Wye Mills, MD. Shanta was a member of the Abundant Life Church in Centreville, MD. She often exclaimed that through all her trials and tribulations that God was faithful and Jesus is real.
Shanta had several occupations in the course of her adult life. She was passionate about caring for children and the elderly. Service to others is how she carried herself. One of her proudest accomplishments was organizing the Bea Gaddy Food Give Away during Thanksgiving in Centreville. Shanta loved life, family, friends and even complete strangers. Her hobbies were hanging out with girlfriends, going to dances, talking on the phone, babysitting, singing and many other things. Shanta often remarked that when she was younger she enjoyed spending time with her Aunt Sadie, and Uncle Jimmy Whittico. Shanta was fond of her friends and mentor Joe Hynson, Rosiland Hynson who she called “Mom and Dad”.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father as well as her sister Sheila Woolford.
She leaves precious and fond memories with five brothers, Edward Cheers (Shannon) of Trappe, MD; Kevin Johnson (Tanika) of Philadelphia, PA, Jermaine Johnson (Kim) Seattle, WA, Brandon Cephas of Cambridge, MD. Three sisters, Vera Johnson (Sharond) of Centreville, MD, Charnise Ryans of Centreville, MD, Erica Lewis of Chestertown, MD. In addition to her siblings she leaves wonderful stories, memories of fun and laughter with a special niece Carmen Cheers and her son, Kaleb Hill and a special cousin Chenta Green as well as many other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and children who she loved all young and old.
