Percy Linwood James Jr. (aka “Diddy”) was called home to eternal rest on February 11, 2020 at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton.
He was born May 5, 1951 in Painter, Virginia, son of the late Percy L. James and Olevia T. Baines James. Percy began his early education in Virginia, but graduated from Queen Anne County High School in Centreville, MD. After graduating high school, Percy enlisted and served in the United States Army. He also worked in the healthcare field and other capacities. Percy enjoyed cooking, fishing, playing his guitar and storytelling. Spending time with his family bought so much joy to him.
He was a member of Whole Counsel of God Church & Ministries in Greensboro, MD under the leadership of Bishop Marvin L. Jenkins. Percy held the position of Sunday School teacher and a Deacon.
In addition to his parents, Percy was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Oliver James and Philip Tryone James and two sisters, Shirley Mae James and Brenda Leoma James.
He leaves to cherish fond memories, a loving wife, Thelma Louise James; one daughter, Shenitta D. Collins (Centreville); one son, Dontae White (Denisha), Chestertown; six grandchildren, Diondre Collins Jr., Shakai Collins, (both of Chestertown), Desmond White, Donovan White, Brielle Smallwood and Elijah White; three brothers, Hilton (Ridgely, MD), Maurice (Salisbury, MD), Emmanuel (Marina), Centreville, MD; two sisters, Barbara (John) Smallwood, (Henderson, MD), Jelene Johnson (Federalsburg, MD); seven sisters in-law, Carmen (Sandtown, DE); Maschell Hines (Rev. Dartanyon), Andrea Moaney (Philip), Carlene Taylor, Karen Taylor, Gloria Taylor, Eileen Taylor; two brothers in-law, Charles Taylor, Samuel Taylor; three aunts, Emma Chandler (William), Teressa Baines (Belle Haven, VA), Mary Christian (Hampton, VA); one uncle, Ernest James (Jacqueline), Painter, VA; nine children he loved as his own and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
