James Oscar Bowser, aka Butch to some, was born February 5, 1924 to the late Richard and Mary Wilmer Bowser.

James received his education at the schoolhouse in Newtown, graduating at the 11th grade, being drafted afterwards into the US Army serving in WWII. United in marriage to Beatrice Harris in 1948 celebrating 57 years of marriage at her death in 2006. His employment was with Esskay Poultry Plant, Cordova, Shorgood Poultry in Hurlock, returning to Cordova with Allen Foods totaling 45 years. In retirement he worked for U-Star transportation services in Denton for 11 years. He was a member of New Zion U.M. Church in Newtown, serving as Usher, Trustee, Treasurer, Finance Chair, New Zion Men’s Association and the Gospel choir. In addition, he was a member of the Talbot County Men’s Alliance.

James and his siblings were Preacher’s kids and would always delight in telling stories from their childhood with roars of laughter and appreciation for how they grew up. This could be in person or over the phone. His memory served the family in knowing our relatives and extended family along. He will be missed as our Historian and in the words of his nephew Aldace, “My favorite Uncle”. We truly Thank God for his longevity along with his wisdom/knowledge that he shared with us.

He was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice, two sons, James E. Bowser (Sugie), James A. Bowser (Jimmy). Grandsons, Antonio Bowser and Brian L. Hynson, Sr., brother Richard Bowser, Jr., sisters, Viola, Albertha and Katherine Bowser, Florence B. Hynson, Emma B. Griffin, Dorothy B. Handy, Magdalene B. Turner and Anna B. Price. Special Nephew/Brother, Ernest Walker and nephew Larrier Walker.

He leaves to mourn his death children, Ruth H. Bailey, Jacqueline Chase Stanton (Lester), Wallace Bowser (Audrey), Rosalind B. Hynson (Joseph), and Stephanie B. Williams. Grandchildren, W. Frankie Stewart III, Everett Thomas, Katrina Bowser, Corrinda B. Ayers, Precious Bowser, Angel B. Neal, Shaina Bowser, Dondre’ Hynson, Sr., Troy Williams, Jr., Ashlee Williams and Brianna Williams. 26 great grandchildren, 13 great, great grandchildren, a host of truly loving nieces and nephews. Dedicated cousin, Stewart Wilmer, dedicated friend, Harold Adams. Brother and sister in laws, Kenneth; Barbara Harris, Alfred & Mary Harris, Larry & Anna Mae Harris, Leroy & Nancy Williams, George & Edith Green and Evelyn Deshields. Caregiver & Cousin Faye Sisco, Caregivers, Sherry Lake, TyShay Pinder and Georgette Downes, considered as our Family! Love you ladies
