A Time to be Born

Allen Dewayne Matthews was born March 3, 1960 to Kermit R. L. Travers, Sr and Nora E Perry.

A Time to Love

On March 6, 2000, Allen married his “Special K”, Dulcey Matthews of 20 years and made a pact for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love to cherish, ‘till death them do part. Dulcey did honor her King.

A Time to Live

Allen was educated in the Dorchester County School system and graduated with the Class of 1978. He worked various jobs in Dorchester County. Allen loved picking crabs, cooking for his family, playing Dominos, fishing, shooting pool, and loved riding around town in the “Black Bullet” with his dad. Allen also enjoyed doing his lawn care jobs. He became the candy man to all the children in his neighborhood.

A Time to Rest

Allen departed this life Saturday, December 26, 2020 at his home at the age of 60. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Goldsborough and Mabel Travers; maternal grandparents, George Calvin Matthews and Bertha Marie Clinton; one sister, Glendora M Jones; one brother, Vincent Walter Travers, Sr; one, niece, Kimberly Pinder; one nephew, Gary Travers, Jr; a special bonus mother, Katie Marie Green; 3 aunts: Beatrice M Phillips, Joan Stanley, and Marion McNamara; 2 uncles: Charles Davis and Joe Sampson; one brother-in-law, Charles William Keene; father and mother-in-law, William and Dorothy Ross.

Precious memories will be cherished by his wife, Dulcey; his loving daughter, Anika Lajoy Matthews; one son, LaMar Williams of Jessup; father, Kermit Travers, (Connie) Sr,; mother, Nora E Perry of Cambridge; 6 sisters: Doris Matthews, Hattie Travers Redmond (James), Veronia Travers-Milligan (Frankie), Jaqueline Copes, Marcia Perry of Cambridge, Priscilla Perry of Florence, South Carolina; 13 brothers: Mark Matthews of Kokomon, IN, Steffine Travers (Patrice) of Atlanta, GA, Terry Travers (Felicia) of Republic, MO, Kermit Travers, Jr (Patty), Henry Leak, Arnold Travers (Dorit), Jabron Cooper all of Cambridge; Gary Travers, Sr. (Johnette) of Salisbury, Darryl Askins of Ocean City, Bryan Wielgosz, Ryan Travers of Federalsburg, Jason Wielgosz (Lisa) of Ridgley, MD, Naham Perry of Princess Anne, MD and Jordan Adams of New York, New York; 3 sisters-in-laws: Anquentette Cornish, Dora Page, and Diana Chase all of Cambridge, and a host of other cousins, relatives, and friends.
