Rachel Jane Jackson was born on September 25, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Wilmer and Lillie M. Jackson. Rachel was born near Vienna, Md and spent all of life in the Vienna/Rhodesdale area. She married Greason Winfield Jackson on June 18, 1954.
Rachel was employed at Hurlock Sports Wear for 47 years. Rachel owned and operated Jacksons Beauty Salon in her home for many years. Once she retired from Hurlock Sports Wear, she decided to become a Foster Parent for the next 6 years. Age the age of 72, Rachel decided to go to school to become a CNA. This became the start of her career as a private sitter for William Hill Manor in Easton. She often told stories of her “Adventures in sitting”. Rachel did private sitting for 12 years before she decided to fully retire to spend more time with her husband and participate in activities at the MAC Center. She loved leading their exercise class and assisting with preparing and serving the snacks. Rachel also took pride in Gardening, she loved planting and watering her flowers. She also enjoyed growing vegetables on her family farm. Rachel was a lifetime member of Wallace Temple AME Zion Church in Rhodesdale, MD. She served many positions in the church, class leader, communion steward, usher, trustee and overseer for church and church grounds.
She was preceded in death by her grandson Garfield Stewart, Jr.
Rachel is survived by her daughter Karen, and her son Grason, a stepson Sherwood Pinder(Wanda), two grandchildren Tykisha(Ian) of Tennessee, and Kavon Pinder of Jacksonville, FL, four great grandsons; Gage Stewart of Kentucky, Anderson and Myles Sanders of Tennessee and Jy’Shana Stewart of Rhodesdale, Md. Nieces; Thelma Wilson of Glen Burnie. Cassandra Payne and Charles of Glen Burnie, Md., Doris and James of North Carolina, Violet of Concord, Delaware, Elisaa Butler of Concord, Delaware. Nephews; Vernon of Georgia, Leroy(Joyce) of Cambridge, Md., Thomas(Donna) of Glen Burnie, Md., Forrest of Delaware and many great nieces and nephews. Special great niece and nephew Debbie and Leroy Jackson, Jr, Keifford Jackson. Sisters in law Vatice Walker, Bessie Jones, Brother in law Keifford Jackson, Special friends and church family: Bertha Mack, Judith Blake, Madaline George, Portia Hammond, Harriet Bell, Donald and Gloria Nichols, Marie Chester, Dorothy Jackson and Liz Tyler.
