1962 Pauline 2021

Pauline Wongus

December 9, 1962 — December 17, 2021

A Time to be Born: She was born Pauline Annetta Bailey on

December 9th, 1962 to Dorothy Bailey. While growing up,

Pauline was nurtured and raised by her loving grandparents Nathaniel and Lillian Chester.

A Time to Love: Pauline married the love of her life, Derek Wongus, Sr. on July 6th, 1985. Three children were born from this union, Derek, Jr., Rashekia and Jasmine Wongus. She also gained a bonus daughter, Tenishia Johnson Tillery.

A Time to Live: Pauline graduated from Cambridge-South

Dorchester High School Class of 1980. Prior to retirement Pauline was employed with the State of Maryland at Eastern Shore Hospital Center for 30 years. She worked on various units during her tenure. When the hospital moved to the new location, she was co-leader of the patient groups on the

treatment mall and was later the mall monitor. Pauline had great work ethic as she continued part-time work at Rite Aid

after retirement.

Pauline loved her family tremendously and was well loved by her family and friends. In her spare time, she loved to travel, sit by the water and eat crabs but her favorite pastime was

spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She loved the Christmas holiday which was displayed with her annual Christmas gathering.

Pauline knew the Lord as her personal Savior. She was an

active member of Greater Mt. Olive Full Gospel Baptist Church and always enjoyed the couples fellowship immensely. Among her favorite songs were, “Something About the Name Jesus” and “Silver and Gold.”

A Time to Cherish: Pauline peacefully transitioned from this life on December 17th, 2021 at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton with her family by her side.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband Derek, Sr.; her four children Derek, Jr., Rashekia (Kyra), Jasmine and Tenishia (Dock); seven grandchildren, Ty’Andre Johnson, Derek, III, Novah and Madison Wongus, Lyric Mayfield,

Suquian Wright, Kash Brown and Aria Scott;

a great-grandchild, Kallage Johnson; a special daughter in love, Nykita Jolley; one uncle, Richard Bailey; two best friends, Maretta Johnson and Leslie Laws and a host of cousins and friends.

Her laughter, her presence and wisdom will be greatly missed.

Pauline was preceded in death by her mother and grandparents
