Loistine Dennis Obituary (1928

Loistine Pinkett Dennis, 84 of Cambridge, died Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Chesapeake Woods Nursing Center Cambridge, MD. Born May 18, 1928 in Bucktown, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Goodsill and Viola Pinkett. She attended the public schools of Dorchester County and was a graduate of F. D. St. Clair High School, Class of 1946. Upon graduation, she attended Morgan State College, where she received her undergraduate and graduate degree in Education. Mrs. Dennis was an educator for 35 years (2 years in Charles County and 33 years in Dorchester County) retiring in 1990. In 1961 she married the late Rev. Roland Dennis. From this union a son, Mark, was born. Along with her career in education she was also the first lady within the United Methodist Church for the following charges, White Haven, (61-62), Wittman McDaniel (62-70), Trappe Oxford (70-77) and Cambridge Vienna (77-99) 38 years. Even after the passing of her husband she continued her membership within the Cambridge Vienna Charge until her passing. Her hobbies were shopping, home decorating, taking care of and spending time with her family and traveling. In addition to her parents, a sister, Virginia Pinkett and Uncle, Rev. Edward Jackson preceded her in death. She is survived by a son, Mark Dennis; sister in-law, Annie Jones (Allen, MD); (2) brothers in-law, Carroll Dennis (Phila., PA), Voyd Dennis (Mary), Allen, MD; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Gladys Chester Friedberg (Felix), Silver Spring, MD, Floleeshur Gibson Sawyer (Roger), Halifax, NC, Andre Gibson (Loretta), Fontana, CA and Claude G. Gibson (Petra), Erlangen, Germany and other cousins, special friends, Geraldine Kane (Cambridge, MD) and Eunice Bailey (Trappe, MD) and other friends. Services will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2012 12 noon at St. Luke UM Church 712 Bradley Ave Cambridge with a viewing two hours prior. Interment in Bucktown Cemetery.
