Leroy Joseph Jackson, Sr., 82, of Cambridge, Maryland peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the University of Maryland, Shore Medical Center at Easton.
Leroy was born and raised in Dorchester County Maryland and was a graduate of Mace’s Lane High School, class of 1957. In his early years he attended Wallace Temple AME Zion Church, Rhodesdale, MD. Leroy was employed with E.I. DuPont, James Jullian Construction, Pokety Farms, and Allen Foods. He was a licensed barber and Owner and Operator of Jackson & Son Recycling.
Leroy was an avid hunter and enjoyed race cars, pickup trucks, motorcycles, and watching football. Leroy would read the Bible often, he not only read the Bible but would have a conversation with you about his readings and answer any questions asked. Leroy loved his family and his family loved him. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and they loved their Pop Pop. Whenever in his presence you were in for a lengthy conversation with lots of laughter. If planning to call him you knew to fully charge your phone battery and to keep a second phone charged and on standby.

Jackson, Jr. (Donnessa), Vanessa Banks (Leroy), Michael Jackson, Ronda Jolley (Roger), Donte Batson (Angelina), Renita Jackson, DaShon Jackson, Sr., Terrance Jackson, Dontray Jackson, (Inez); all of Cambridge, MD, Jeffery Jackson, TN, and Eugene Evans, FL; brothers and sisters, Vernon Jackson, Lithonia, GA, Thelma Wilson, Thomas W. Thompson (Donna), and Cassandra Payne (Charles) all of Glen Burnie, MD, Brenda Hayward, Cambridge, MD, and Hilton Hayward (Peggy), Baltimore, MD; sisters-in-law, Deborah L. Thompson, Cambridge, MD, Gloria Batson and Janet Bridges, Federalsburg, MD, Miriam Summers (Ernie), Baltimore, MD, Vanessa Batson, Seaford, DE, Louise Robinson (Freeman), Yeadon, PA and brother-in-law, Anthony Batson (Judy), Blades, DE; 20 grandchildren, 41 great-grand children, and 1 great-great granddaughter; an uncle Greason Winfield Jackson, Rhodesdale, MD; special friends, William Pee-Wee Jackson, Ronald Lee Williams, Milton Jones, Maurice Camper, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Leroy was proceed in death by his parents Thomas L. and Lillie Mae Thompson; grandparents Wilmer and Lillie Jackson, daughter Constance Diane Jackson, aunts, Marian Waters and Rachel Jackson, sisters, Madaline S. Banks and Lucille J. White and a brother Roland L. Thompson.
