Leolin Dockins Jr. passed away peacefully from this life on Tuesday, July 5"' 201l, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, MD, with family at his side. Leolin was born August 7, 1938 in East New Market, MD. He was the second son of Leolin Dockins Sr., and Mary Lizzy Sampson Dockins of Thompsontown, MD. Leolin loved God, his family, his church and his community. He was a member of Wesley Temple United Methodist Church of Salisbury Maryland. He loved his Pastor, Rev. William A. Ross Sr., Church family, Sunday school classes and Bible studies. He just loved talking about the Lord, and discussing the Bible. He loved to excite the Sunday School Class with his vast knowledge and creative ways of using the Bible, to make the class think and get them talking, while discussing various topics and lessons during Sunday School. Leolin attended school in Dorchester County Maryland, graduating in 1956, from Mace Lane High School. In 1957, he moved to Baltimore, MD, and then by 1958, he moved to Philadelphia, PA. He worked in a Generator Shop repairing generators while taking correspondance courses in Electronics. In 1961-1963, he was drafted into the US Army - Engineer, serving in the USA and Korea where he worked on Nike missiles. After returning from the service he continued his education in Electronics. In 1967, Leolin was hired at the Boeing (Vertol) Co., in Lester, PA, as the 1st Black Electronic Maintenance Technician, repairing computerized manufacturing equipment. While working at Boeing he also attended Drexel University, and many other schools in different areas of the United States, studying electronics in its different phases. Leolin retired from the Boeing Co. Helicopter Division, after thirty four (34) years. Leolin became a member of The Light of Elmwood Lodge #45, Philadelphia, PA in 1969 and was a Past Master. He became a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission of Dorchester County in 2008. He was a member of the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agriculture Implement Workers of America (UAW) and also started a Civic Organization in Thompsontown MD. In 1964, Leolin joined in Holy Matrimony with the love of his life Anna Mae Foster of Pryor Creek, Oklahoma. Lee was introduce to Ann by her Brother Charlie Foster, Mannheim, Germany, who was Lee's good friend in the Army. Leolin leaves to cherish his wife of 47 years, Anna Mae Foster. He is survived by three sons Gale Killette (Gwen) Hurlock, MD, Leolin Dockins III (Trudi) Houston, TX, Jay L. Dockins, Aston, PA. He has ten (10) young men that he loved and respected as his own. Gary Killette, Bowie, MD, Lawrence Ayers, Puerto Rico, Mike Moseley, Dewane Moseley, Howard Moseley, Shelton Cosby, Keith Exum, Justin Reid all of Pennsylvania, Jean Paul Weekes and Robert Humbert of Houston, Texas; granddaughters, Assata Jay Paris Dockins "Sweetie", Houston, TX, Melva and great grandchildren, Mariah and Markel of Hurlock, MD. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A special cousin Wilbur Sampson. A very dear friend who is like a brother, called every week from S.C., Charles Adams. Leolin lived by example touched so many lives that his memory will never be forgotten. HE LOVED LIFE----He loved spending time with his family, traveling, riding his motorcycle, reading books, listening to Jazz and watching his "Sweetie" Assata Praise Dance. Services will be held on Friday, July 15th 11am at Wesley Temple UM Church Salisbury with a viewing Thursday evening 6-8pm at the church. Interment Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Wesley Temple UM Church 1322 West Rd Salisbury, MD.
