Lena Mae Nichols, 86 of Dorchester County, departed this life on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge, Maryland.
She was born April 6, 1931 in Dorchester County, the daughter of the late John and Mary Louise Nichols. Lena was married to the late George Washington.
She was a graduated of F.D. St. Clair, Class of 1948. Throughout her young life Lena worked harvesting crops. She worked at Coldwater from 1973 until she retired in 1993. Her journey continued to Federalsburg Head start working as a foster grandmother which was the joy of her life.
Lena leaves love and memories to her sister Ruby Pinder of Linkwood, MD; granddaughter, Shantell Nichols; a great granddaughter, Kaz'mir Young of Cambridge, MD; sisters in-law, Margaret Baker (New Jersey), Emma Parks and Louise Dangerfield (both of Hurlock, MD); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Darcy Nichols, six brothers, Louis, Harvey, James, Raymond, Orville and Ira Nichols and two sisters, Myrtle Pinder and Alice Nichols.
