Kent Maurice Horsey, 53 of Salisbury, Maryland passed away on Thursday, July 18 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Kent was born on April 11, 1966 in Salisbury, Maryland. He was the older son of Robert Horsey and the late Mabel Elias Horsey. Kent was educated in the Wicomico County Public School System. Shortly after graduating from Mardela Middle Senior High School, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany five of his seven years in the military. After an Honorable Discharge at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, he resumed his civilian life in Salisbury. Kent worked Security for restaurants and night clubs in the Salisbury and Ocean City area, a Counter clerk at Choice TV Rental, then managed and eventually became a co-owner E-Z Rentals. In recent years, he worked as a collection agent for two local businesses in Salisbury.
He joined St. Luke UMC at an early age. Kent participated in Sunday School and other youth activities. He was an active member of The Sunbeams and the St. Luke Gospel Choir. Kent was a fun-loving person who enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kenise Horsey; mother, Mabel Horsey; grandfathers: Willie Elias and Marion Ennis Sr.; grandmothers: Mildred Horsey and Sarah Elias; great-grandmother Ruth Horsey and god mother, Theresa Morris.
Loving memories will be cherished by his fiancée, Sherry Grimes Dashiell; 3 daughters: Monique Horsey of Marburg, Germany, NiKeah (Anthony) Robinson of San Domingo, MD, Delaney Horsey of Milford, Delaware; a step-daughter, Trenelle Dashiell; 3 grandchildren: Jordyn, Camery, and Anthony Robinson III of San Domingo, MD, 2 brothers: Craig Handy of Federalsburg, MD, and retired Lieutenant Colonel Barry (Kaylaa) Horsey of Woodbridge, Virginia; 4 nieces: Lauren and Taylor Horsey, Ambrea Pressley, and Andrea Handy; 4 nephews: Craig, Monte, Trevor, and Trent Handy; 8 aunts: Rose Mae (Alvin) Thompson of Cleveland, Ohio, Ruth Ellen Horsey of Baltimore, Willie Ann (Lawson) Walker, Sr. of Oxen Hill, MD; Susie Thomas of Detroit, Michigan; Lillie (Anthony) Giddens of Salisbury, Betty Jean (Leris Phillips) Elias of Upper Marlboro, Wannetta (George) Golden of Seale, Alabama; Sandra (Willie) Puckett of Hurtsboro, Alabama; 8 uncles: Warrener Horsey of the Netherlands; Marion Ennis Jr. of Bowie, William (Amy) Nickerson of Miami, Florida; Luvern “Joe” (Ginger) Nickerson of Albany, Georgia; Scott and Ted Nickerson of Seale, Alabama; John (Quanda) Nickerson of Columbus, Georgia, and Larry Ennis, Sr of Salisbury; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
