Joyce Horsey

December 2, 1947 — October 7, 2018

Joyce Ann Ennels Horsey 70 departed this life on Sunday, October 7, 2018 in Cambridge, Maryland at UMSMC at Dorchester. She was born in Cambridge on December 2, 1947 to the late Curlette and Venice Ennels.

Joyce attended school in Dorchester County and graduated from Maces Lane High School in 1965. In later years, she had a goal to finish school at Delaware Technical College in Georgetown, Delaware and Kaplan University in Iowa  studying to help other people. She received her Bachelors Degree in Social Work and Human Services at the age of 64. Her motto was “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13.

For many years, Joyce served the church faithfully as a member of St. Luke UM Church, where she was a member of the Methodist Youth Fellowship, choir, and usher. Then in later years, she became a member of the Faith Seventh Day Adventist Church in Cambridge. Although she later had some health and physical limitations, it did not keep her from being involved. At Faith Church, Joyce wore several hats, including: Women’s Ministries Leader, Treasurer, Director of  Vacation Bible School, Children’s Class Teacher, Choir member, Sabbath School Superintendent, and joining with her “sidekick” Doris in coordinating various events. She loved to be involved in the Adult Sabbath School class.

Joyce enjoyed traveling with her church family and friends to various events and cruise trip. A few of her hobbies were cooking, playing bingo, listening to gospel music. She was a hard worker employed at places such as:  Bumble Bee Tuna, ConAgra, Pizza Hut in Cambridge, Nursing Aid at Mallard Bay Nursing Home, Summer Migrant Program at Hurlock Elementary School, Substitute teacher in Dorchester County, Kitchen Manager at Camp Barnes in Delaware, Kitchen Manager at Cheer Center in Lewes, Delaware, and Pizza by Elizabeth in Rehoboth, Delaware.

Joyce was a devoted and loving wife to Edward (Dinky) Lee Horsey for 18 years.

She not only loved people, but loved the Lord deeply. She taught her children everyday how it was important to obey God’s law; to be faithful until death. She also loved her Faith Seventh Day Adventist Church family.

In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Ann Stones; a brother, Rodney Ennels; a sister-in-law, Robin Ennels, and a nephew, Bobby J. Ennels.

She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted husband, Edward of Cambridge; a daughter Tyboria Nicole Stones of Cambridge; 3 sons: Dwayne  Lionel Stones of Hagerstown, Dereck Edward and Eric Edmund Stones of Georgetown, Delaware; a grandson she helped raise since the age of 6 months, Isaiah Foreman; grandchildren: Tyeshia Majors, Djonte Lyons, Deosha Walker, Broderick Dunaway, Jr., Tikeria Hill, Keyanna Stones; great-grandsons: Broderick Dunaway III, Xavier Dunaway, Monte Walker, Dajour Walker, Nehemiah Hill, Isaiah Hill, Dionte Lyons, Jr., Nehemiah, Messiah, Juda, and one great-granddaughter, Tay; god-daughter La’Keyia Seymor; siblings that are close  together: a sister, Darlene Ennels, Cambridge; two brothers: Vernon Ennels, Easton, Larry Ennels (Stephanie), Owings Mills; three step daughters, Geraldine Foreman, Alena Kellum (Chauncy), Laurel, DE, Shariss Baldwin (Georgetown, DE); one brother in-law, Ricky Horsey; four sisters in-law, Barbara Horsey, Lisa Horsey, Wanda Horsey, Brenda Horsey and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
