John Gilbert was born on December 21,1947 in Providence, Rhode Island. He was raised by his parents Wallace (Pop Pop) Gilbert and Elizabeth (Betty) Haskell Gilbert. His siblings Dorothy (Dottie) Mikalian (deceased), Elizabeth Miles, and Richard Harris.\n \n\n\n\n He went to South Kingston High School and graduated with an Associate Degree with honors with a Business Degree at Chesapeake Community College.\n \n\n\n\n John joined the Navy and proudly served 10 years in the Navy before Honorable discharging in 1976.\n \n\n\n\n John worked for the Anne Arundel County School system in operational support for 32 years. John had a passion to serve the community with decades of service. He served at Christ Church Parish on Kent Island. Specifically, the vestry and was senior warden, leader of the 8am Eucharistic ministries, lectors and ushers, Alter Guild, Back Pack Ministries and a dedicated volunteer and coordinator with Haven Ministries.\n \n\n\n\n John loved his fur babies, boating, fishing, golfing with family, and camping.\n \n\n\n\n He was happily married to Wyna Kay Gilbert for 50 wonderful years and brought into the world three children. Heather Gilbert Cooper, Heath Gilbert, and Holly Gilbert Laucht. They have 6 grandchildren Seth, Corey, Cameron, Peyton, Caden, and Andrew.\n \n\n\n\n He will be missed by his family and community.
