To everything, there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heavens: Ecclesiastes 3:1
A time to be born: Gale Denise Seymore Benson was born on December 15, 1958 in Cambridge, MD to Marva Seymore and James Cornish.
A time to love: On November 18, 2016, Gale married the love of her life, Richard O. Benson, “O’Donald” as she called him. It was an intimate ceremony surrounded by family and friends. Although they were only married for a moment, they spent a lifetime together. From this love they had a blended family with three children Tameka, Demetrius and Richard Jr.
A time to live: As a little girl, Gale gave her life to Christ. She sang on the Children’s Choir and attended many youth programs. She attended Dorchester County Public Schools and graduated with the Cambridge South Dorchester High School Class of 1976. She was known by her classmates for joking around, laughing and having a good time. Gale worked various places and her last place of employment was the Bay Country Market at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay.
Gale loved her family dearly. She loved cooking, doing hair and good music. Teddy Pendergrass and Luther Vandross were her favorites. She loved watching her shows….Family Feud, Gunsmoke, Wheel of Fortune and The View. She had such a good heart for her children, family and friends. She enjoyed when family visited from out of town. She would be so happy to see them and would love to cook for them. She also loved when her friends would call her up and say, “Let’s go for a ride”.
A time to serve: Gale rededicated her life to Christ and became an active member providing immeasurable assistance at St Luke United Methodist Church. She served in as many capacities as she could: Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, Children’s Choir, Gospel Souls, New Covenant Choir, Praise Team, Outreach, Women’s Day Committee and the kitchen committee known as the “Chicken Pluckers”.
Even as her health began to fail, she continued to read her daily devotions and attend meetings, workshops, and services. She was a dedicated Christian who loved doing the Lord’s work. She loved her church, her Pastor, and her church family.
A time to rest: Gale went to be with our Almighty God on Monday, August 13, 2018 at the age of 59.
