Florence Mae Jones, 84, departed this life on Friday, April 30, 2021 at her home in Grasonville, Md. She was born on August 20, 1936 in Carmichael, Md. to Barney Hutchins, Sr. and Viola Green.
Florence was educated in the Queen Annes County Public School System. She worked in various restaurants as a chef and a waitress. She was a member of Ezion United Methodist Church under Rev. Robert Brown. Florence was also a member of Chosen Generation under the late Bishop Arlene Taylor. Her latest church home was Union Wesley United Methodist Church under Pastor Cornelius Berry.
Florence loved God, her family, and friends. She also loved reading the Bible and making people laugh. She would tell old stories about things from back in the day. If anyone could not remember something, you could always call on Florence and she would have the answers.
In addition to her parents, Barney Hutchins and Viola Green, Florence was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Jones; 3 sisters: Bertha Mae Smith, Pearl Taylor, and Catherine Hutchins; one brother, Barney Hutchins, Jr.; 4 children: Franklin Fisher, Charles Fisher, Ruth Mendez-Lopez and Joseph Fisher, and one great grandson: De’Sean Moore.
Florence’s memory will be cherished by her children: William Fisher, Cambridge, Md., James Fisher (Christine) Grasonville, Elizabeth Prior, Jessup, Md.; one golden girl left, Shirley Groce of Denton, Md.: 4 grandchildren: Takia Fisher-Hughes (Larry) Greensboro, NC., Predaricka Dunn(Tyrell) Brandywine, Md., Michael Jarman of Cambridge, Breana Driggs of Tampa, Fl.: 6 great grandchildren: ShaQuara and Shyann Fisher, Dominique Mendez-Lopez, Noah Randolph, Nathan and Christian Dunn; a special niece, Patricia Fisher; special friends: Jesse, Debbie, Nish, and Clarence, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who she cared for dearly.
