Flora Goldsborough

February 13, 1922 — August 8, 2017

Flora Milbourne Goldsborough, also affectionately known as Mom Flor, Baby Rae, and Nana, 95 departed this life on August 8, 2017, at Genesis Health Care in Easton.  Mrs. Goldsborough was born on February 13, 1922, in Accomac County Virginia to the late Elijah and Lillie (Lewis) Milbourne.

As a young child, Flora grew up on a large orchard farm owned by her grandparents on her father’s side.  She later moved with her family to Bellevue, MD in 1933, where she later met her husband, the late James Arby Goldsborough.  In this union three children were born.

In Bellevue, Mrs. Goldsborough worked on Foxes Farm picking a variety of vegetables.  She also worked as a cook for a private hunting lodge on Popular Island, in the canning house skinning tomatoes, and in the seafood industry picking crabs, shucking oysters, and clams.  Mrs. Goldsborough worked for many years as a child care provider for prominent families in Maryland, Florida, and Georgia until the birth of her twin grandsons in which she helped to raise for three years in New Jersey before returning to Bellevue.

Flora loved going to church and singing on the choir. She was a life-long member of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Bellevue. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards, going on trips, spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Early in life, Flora’s parents and Aunt Ella taught her lessons to live by: to love everyone, work hard, keep your house clean, take your children to church, listen to your parents, and “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

She was preceded in death by her husband James Arby Goldsborough; all of her children: James Coldridge Goldsborough, Wallace Leon Goldsborough, and Evetta Mae Goldsborough- Henry; six brothers: Neil, Matthew, Edward, Clyde, Handy, and Russell Milbourne; five sisters: Eunice Johnson, Agnes Murray, Lillie Anne Fields, Marie Green, and Grace Collins.

Flora leaves to mourn a son in-law David Henry Sr., of St. Michaels; a daughter in-law Janet Goldsborough of St. Michaels; 11 loving grandchildren: Cinetta (Darryl) Brittingham of Cliffwood Beach, NJ, David Henry, Jr., of St. Michaels, Darian Henry (Shalee) of Camden, DE, Michelle Goldsborough of Yonkers, NY, Jimmy Goldsborough of New Jersey, Denae Goldsborough of Las Vegas, NV, Terrance Goldsborough of Vineland, Wallace Goldsborough, Jr., Cori (Sam) Ellis Sheldon (Natrice) Goldsborough, and Sharon Govan all of Vineland, NJ; and a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
