Elmer Oswald Young, Jr. son of Elmer O. Young, Sr., and Lena Potter Young, was born on July 26, 1949 in Hurlock, Maryland. He went home to eternal rest with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at the University of Midtown, Baltimore, Maryland.\n \n\n Elmer received his formal education from the public schools of Dorchester County, Maryland and the Mace's Lane High School class of 1967 was his graduating class. He received his Christian education at Mt. Zion UMC under the leadership of Rev. N. C. Stanley and as he grew in statue and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior he was affiliated with other denominations. Elmer never let his hearing disability hinder him from leading a full and active life. He, like a lot of us started our work experience on the farms in Dorchester County. Then he went to work for Continental Can, Walmart and a few other industries before he began masonry work under the tutelage of Bishop Calvin Abbott, which he did until his health failed. Elmer had a jovial spirit and loved to have fun fishing with his family and buddies. Of course, hunting was also something he loved to do. His father taught him how to rabbit hunt and he hunted rabbits and deer with his Uncle Charles (Punkin) and brother, Gary and other friends. He loved to make you laugh and spending time with family and friends was always exciting when he was around; joking and imitating folk especially family members. Of course, he really believed he could sing!\n \n\n Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer O. Sr., and Lena Young, his brother, Kenneth O. Young, Sr. and his maternal grandparents, Norris and Hazel Potter, fraternal grandparents Will Young and Ida Young Bailey, brother-inlaw Clyde Gibson.\n \n\n With a legacy of love and cherished memories he leaves to mourn his wife Viletta Newcomb Young, four children, Elmer O.
