Mrs. Doris Emelene (Pinder) Sampson went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 12, 2018, at the age of 76.
Doris was born August 6, 1941 in Cambridge, MD to Monroe William Charles Edward Pinder and Louise (Thompson) Pinder, the 6th of 12 children. She was united in marriage to Jacob Elmer Sampson, Jr. on August 4, 1962 in East New Market, MD. They were married for 55 wonderful years.
Doris graduated from the class of 1959 majoring in Business at Mace’s Lane High School, Cambridge, MD, as one of 94 students. She enjoyed playing clarinet in the band all during high school. Her career was spent as a skilled seamstress beginning at Rob Roy, Cambridge MD and she remained in the garment industry until her retirement. Doris also completed her certification as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) later in her work life.
Loving nothing more than being a mother, Doris enjoyed teaching, training and pouring encouragement into her daughters as they grew into womanhood. She loved to prepare Sunday dinners for her family and took great joy in watching them enjoy what she prepared. Her daughters have fond memories of their quiet-spirited mother talking with them regularly about proper manners, the ills of gossiping, grooming techniques and many other valuable life lessons.
Doris was predeceased by her parents, her sister DeRue Duke and her brother Donald Pinder. She is survived by her husband, Jacob Elmer Sampson, Jr., her three daughters Doris S. Mason, Jeanette T. Sampson and Lakisha L.F. Butler (Jermaine Butler) and two grand daughters, Faith O. A. Terrell and Kyra L. Baynard. She is also survived by a special sister and identical twin, Dorine Pinder; brothers, Marvin Pinder, Bernard Pinder, Tyrone Pinder, and sisters, Louise Brummell, Edith Pinder, Alfreda Major, Selestine Pinder and Victoria Henry. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and friends.
