Anya Fitchett Obituary (1980

Anya Marie Fitchett, a devoted wife, mother, daughter and friend was called home to eternal rest with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, April 22, 2009. Raised by her grandmother, JoAnn Davenport, Anya was born on July 13, 1980 to Adrienne De-Vast Ross of Providence, Rhode Island and Raymond Merritt of Atlanta, Georgia. Anya joined Ebenzer Baptist Church in Rhode Island where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. She graduated from Alternate Learning Project High School in Providence, RI in 2000. Anya continued her education at Rhode Island Community College, further finishing her nursing education at Chesapeake College in Wye Mills, Maryland, where she graduated as a Registered Nurse in 2007. After changing geographical locations, Anya met the love of her life Randolph Fitchett, III (Randy) in 1999. Anya and Randy had a loving relationship over the past 10 years cherishing their only son, Jaden. They loved to travel to exotic places like Jamaica and Mexico and were known for putting on extravagant barbecues and entertaining. Anya and Randy joined hands in marriage in 2004 and she joined Coppins AME Church in Jonestown, MD, under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Randolph Fitchett, Jr. Anya loved cooking for her family, spending time reading her favorite novels, going to the movies with her son, Jaden and her husband, Randy and having a meal at her favorite restaurant, The Cheesecake Factory. Anya was loved and respected by her peer and patients at the Memorial Hospital at Easton and the Genesis Elder Care in Centreville. Anya was smart, hardworking, dedicated and wanted to learn all that she could about nursing. She was known as an advocate for her patients and when there was no vein to be found, Anya could find it! Anya was a kind, giving and loving person and would do whatever she could to help people. That was her passion... she loved helping people. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Randolph Fitchett, III and their nine year old son, Jaden Fitchett (both of Ridgely, MD); a very special grandmother who raised her, JoAnne Davenport and her mother, Adrienne De-Vast Ross; her father, Raymond Merritt; a sister, Pia Ross and niece, Heaven Ross (both of Durham, NC); a nephew, Austin Harris; father and mother in-law, Rev. Randolph and Joyce Fitchett, Jr. (Ridgely, MD); three sisters in-law, Trina Fitchett (Robert), Lavinda Carroll (Edward) and Latonya Adkins; two uncles, Joseph Davenport and Troy Davenport (Barbara); one aunt, Disiree Davenport; two devoted friends, Kashia Fitchett and Landra Roy and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held on Wed., April 29, 2009 1pm at St. Luke UM Church 100 S. 5th Ave Denton, MD with a viewing Tuesday evening 6-8pm at the church. Interment Spring Grove Cemetery Denton.
