Wilbur Henry Jackson, 87 of Cambridge, departed this life on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Chesapeake Woods Nursing Home in Cambridge.
Born July 13, 1930, he was the son of the late James Albert Jackson and Grace Stanley Jackson. He was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County. Wilbur was a graduate of Morgan State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music and a minor in English. After graduation, he served two years in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1953.
He was employed for two years in Crisfield and his remaining years he was a music teacher in Havre De Grace Consolidated School in Havre De Grace, Maryland.
During his childhood years, Wilbur was a member of Bazzel United Methodist Church. After the closing of Bazzel his family moved their membership to Waugh Chapel United Methodist Church. The later years of his life he was a faithful member and musician for John Wesley United Methodist Church in Liners Road.
His hobbies include gardening, watching baseball, cooking, opera singing, carpentry, playing the piano and sewing.
He was preceded in death by four siblings Wallace Jackson, James Jackson, Eleanor Adams and Louise Stanley.
His memory shall be cherished by his three siblings, Ada Woolford, Rhoda E. Jones, Fonda E. Jackson (Rebecca); godson, Anthony Bishop and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
