Robenia L. Deshields Johnson passed on Friday, October 4, 2019 at 6:25 pm at Bayleigh Chase Nursing Facility in Easton, MD at the age of 87.
Born May 1, 1932 to the late Herbert and Marie Deshields. Robenia was raised in Unionville, MD and Easton, MD. She attended Moton High School in Easton.
In 1951, Robenia and James P. Johnson were married and from this union three daughters were born, Sheena (Beverly), Deniecia and Nayreen, although this marriage ended in divorce they remained friends.
Her hobbies were word search puzzles and crocheting. Robenia, worked for Dr. & Mrs. BayBut and at the Harbor Club in Easton.
She was a member of Bethel AME Church in her early years and she was a faithful usher at the church.
Robenia was preceded in death by her father and mother, her stepmother, Mary Deshields, a sister, Eva Roberts, her stepsister, Emma Dill, her brother, Herbert Deshields Jr., Douglas Atlas Deshields, her aunt and uncle, Richard & Ruth Brooks, who helped raise her, Aunt Ella Roberts, cousin and friend, Sylvia Brooks, nieces, Sandra Roberts and Deanna Roberts and nephews, Melvin Roberts and Gary Roberts.
She leaves to mourn her loss, three daughters, Sheena Beverly (William) Nichols, Deniecia (Reginald) Pinkett and Nayreen Johnson; five grandchildren, Tanisha Nichols, Tyrone Johnson, Latoya (Mosunta) Cornish, Rondell Johnson and Janae Thomas; two step grandchildren; Markell Pinkett and Ky’Asia Pinkett; Nine great grandchildren, Ariyana, TyAsia, Tabius, Taylan, Corey, Tanai, Jamere, Daylyn and Tamia; three step great grandchildren, Markell Jr., Juayne, Kemara; one brother, Frederick Deshields (Barbara); one sister, Tereasa Deshields; step sister, Cecelia Nance; her ex-husband, James Johnson; close cousins like a sister, Richard Brooks (Carolyn) and Carolyn Brooks; one sister in-law, Evalyn Deshields; two dear friends, Helen (Walter) Chase and Jean Miller and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Robenia was a devoted mother and grandmother. We will miss her dearly. We love you momma, rest in peace until we meet again.
