Mary Frances Sydnor, 93 of Grasonville, departed this life and transitioned to eternal life on December 18, 2018 at her residence.
She was born February 8, 1925 in Callao, Virginia, daughter of the late Eugene Sydnor and Ida McCoy. She attended the public schools in Northland County and was employed within the seafood industry.
Mary and the late Carroll Edward Gaines Sr. had a loving relationship for over 50 years.
Mom loved to get dressed up. She loved her suits with matching hats, shoes and purse. And don’t forget the jewelry. Many would say to her, “I like what you have on.” She would say, “I know I look good that’s why I put it on.” She would then smile and laugh.
“The Queen”, “Fannie” as she was known, enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Everyone enjoyed her beautiful, wonderful smile and laugh.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Madeline Thompson, Christine Sydnor, Joseph Maith, Franklin Sydnor, Warren Sydnor, Floyd Sydnor, Nettie Sydnor, Idell Sydnor-Carter, Tamula Sydnor; stepchildren, Elise Gaines, Inez Gaines, Geraldine Gaines and Edward Gaines Jr.; grandchildren, Tashaya Turner, Tessha Brown, Tyrone Stewart Jr., Jermaine Gould, James Sydnor (Michelle), Shamika White, Richard White, Tiffani Valentin-Carter and Christopher Carter; great grandchildren, Jose Sydnor, Jalessa Sydnor and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two daughters, Gladys Sydnor-Curtis and Margaret Ann Sydnor and two best friends, Carrie Lee Beach and Lottie Bethel Sturdivant.
