Evelina 57, of Linkwood passed way at her home on Saturday, March 3, 2018. She was called home to be with the Lord after fighting a long battle with cancer.
Evelina better known as (Lena) was born July 3, 1960 t Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge, MD; to the proud parents of James and Estella Manokey.
Evelina was educated in the Dorchester County Public School and graduated from Cambridge South Dorchester High in the class of 1978. She lived in Baltimore, MD for many years. Evelina was employed at Bond Security for years; she also worked with the Baltimore City Fire Department where she pursued and dedicated a lot of her time with finding missing children; securing facilities and organizations with her knowledge and training. Evelina was presented with an achievement award by the Baltimore City Fire Department foe emergency medical services. Evelina retired back to the Eastern Shore where she became employed at Western Publishing Co. as a machine burdening operator.
Lena, as she was affectionately called, was a people person. She loved heling people and family. She was loved by everyone she came in contact with. She had a heart of gold. She loved going to church, traveling with family and friends and attending family functions until her health failed. She still read her bible and watch the gospel on T.V. with her mother. Lena loved to sing. She a special bond with her mother. They were like sisters. She loved her son De’Andre and love spoiling her grandchildren.
Lena leaves to cherish her memory a son; De’Andre Manokey(Nora); three grandchildren,; Xavian Manokey, Kamryn Manokey and Jaden Manokey, all of Baltimore, MD; four sisters, Janie Keene(Nat), Jeannie Wilson (Raymond), Lynette Smith(Andre) and Mary Anderson all of Cambridge, MD; five brothers; Eddie Manokey (Shelly), William Lake, Ernest Beasley (Stephanie) all of Cambridge, Md, Tyrone Beasley(Florence) of Delaware and Clarance Lake (Detha) of Annapolis, MD; four aunts, Geneva Stanley, Linna Manokey, Valeria Manokey and Margaret Lawson; two uncles, Calvin Manokey and Milton Jones(Gloria) all of Cambridge and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.
Lena was preceded in death by her mother, Estella Manokey, father James Manokey, her brothers, James Manokey Jr., Jamie Manokey and Wendell Vaughn, aunts, Gladys Manokey, Mable Lake, Elizabeth Manokey and Elsie Lee and uncles, Sam Manokey, Howard Manokey, Walter Jones and Percy (Jake) Lake.
