On October 14, 2019, Eugenia Ann Johns at the age of 87 fell asleep in death at the Talbot Hospice House in Easton MD. She was born on March 31, 1932, in Easton, MD to Eugene and Gladys Pinder.
Eugenia (“Genie”) was educated in the Talbot County school system and was employed as a domestic worker for a few families in the Easton/ Oxford area.
She married Edward Johns on October 14, 1954. They enjoyed 43 years of marriage until his death on December 11, 1997.
Eugenia was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on March 1, 1958, and after she retired, she served as a full-time preacher (pioneer) until her health began to decline.
To most of us she was “Mom mom”. She was known for her infectious smile and sense of humor. If you knew her; you loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Eugene Pinder and Gladys (Jenkins) Pinder. In addition, she was also preceded in death by her only brother Robert (Uncle Bobby) Pinder and her son Sherman Pinder.
Eugenia and Edward raised 5 children; 4 sons and one daughter: Ernest Pinder (Karen), Sherman Pinder (Linda), Anthony Pinder (Terry), Chauncey Johns, and Deborah Lewis (Theodore).
She was blessed with 19 grandchildren: Ernest Pinder Jr (Katherine), Tiwana Pinder, Kyle Pinder, Bonita Egerson , Shermaine Eve-Lena Pinder, Sherlynn Pinder, Monte Roberts, Sharmaine Mickens, Tonette Lewis (Marwin), Tracy Pinder, Anthony Pinder Jr, Tamela Pinder, Chauncey Johns Jr, Tiffany Johns, Eugenia Lewis, Theodore Lewis III, and Melissa Lewis,.
She also enjoyed 28 great grandchildren, 8 great, great grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins. And especially her spiritual brothers and sisters in the Easton, Queenstown and Cambridge Congregations.
