Elizabeth Ann Collins Young, 82 affectionately known as “Lizzie”, was born in Cambridge, MD. She departed this earth to take her eternal rest on November 20, 2019 at Dorchester General Hospital.
Lizzie was born on July 17, 1937 to the late Thomas Collins Sr. and Marian Marie Keene. She attended Dorchester County Public Schools, followed by a long history of working. She worked various factories all her life. However, her last employer was Shore Up as a foster grandparent with the pre-school children.
She spent most of her life in church. Her last active membership was at New Revelations Baptist Church, located on Bradley Ave. She was a dedicated and faithful member, attended church regularly, and continued as long as her health allowed her to do so. Lizzie loved gospel singing. She sang on the choir at her church and various community choirs including the “Dorchester County Workshop” choir. She was a faithful member of Wilmorena Household of Ruth #2147. She was also a proud member of American Legion Post 87 Auxiliary.
Lizzie loved to cook and decorate for every holiday until her health started to fail. She also loved to have company. It was nothing to see a house full of family and friends at Lizzie’s. She made everyone feel welcomed. She spent her final days at home under the care of her daughter, Carla until she went home to be with the Lord.
Lizzie leaves to cherish her memories, a daughter Carla Young; her grandchildren: Kenny Harris Jr., Meisha Woolford, Deondre Demby, Michael Batson Jr., Everett Young Jr. (TyNeika), and A’Corie Young all of Cambridge; her great-grandchildren: Ke’Aja, Jhaizhir, Manajha, Keniyia, Kavion, NyChara, Ah’Zya, KaOmbre, Jor’Dyn, Masen, and 1 on the way: A’Khai; her sister, Delema Hill of Baltimore; a her brother, Don Juan Collins Sr of Cambridge; her good girlfriend, Peggy Pinkett of Trenton, NJ; a few special friends who would come by often, up to the end, Marvel Travis, Louise Cornish and Erica Cornish all of Cambridge; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and family who was dear to her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Everett Young Sr, her sister Anita Camper, and her brother Thomas Collins Jr.
