DeQuane Wycha Woolford

March 20, 1981 ~ July 25, 2019 (age 38)

DeQuane Wycha Woolford, 38, entered into eternal rest surrounded by family on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Dorchester.  Quane, as she was affectionately known, was born on March 20, 1981 to Joyce Banks and the late Wayne “Ricky” Demby, Sr. in Cambridge, MD.

Quane was educated in the Dorchester County Public School System graduating from Cambridge-South Dorchester High School in 1999.

Over the course of her life, Quane worked various jobs with her last place of employment at Sea Watch International in Easton, MD.   On weekends you would often find Quane working in the Elk’s kitchen alongside her best friend, her mother Joyce.  Her specialty was her crab cakes which sold out in record time.

Quane possessed a contagious smile and a loving and outgoing personality.  Quane enjoyed being with her very close and loving family and was always the life of any gathering.  Quane shared her abundance of love with everyone she met but especially with her nieces, nephews and younger cousins whom she often babysat.  She was a second mother to her nephew, Flamond Woolford, Jr. and Loden Burris.

Over her lifetime, Quane was an active member of St. Luke’s Children’s Choir, Cambridge-South Dorchester High School Drill Team, A.D.D.L. World Champion Double Dutch Team, Odyssey of Black Fashion Models, and the Souljah Girlz Social Club.  Quane was on the verge of becoming a member of Progressive of Dorchester Temple #224.

Among those left to cherish her memory are her son, Jalen Woolford; her mother, Joyce Banks; her grandmother, Gloria Woolford; her stepfather, Rev. Randall Banks; three brothers, Flamond Woolford, Sr., Wayne Demby, Jr. and Gary (LaKeithia) Byran, Jr.; eleven aunts, JoAnn, Lois and Sandra Woolford, Bonnie Sampson, Angela and Christine Young, Delores, Elsie, Fostine, Arletha and Patricia Demby; five uncles, Larry and Douglas Nichols, Rudy (Cynthia) and Kevin (Darlene) Woolford, and Lester (Jessica) Demby; a great aunt, Rosetta Montgomery and a great uncle, Louis Woolford; two godmothers, Joyette Wilson and Daphe Dolberry; three god brothers, Andre’ (LaTosha) Cornish, Tyron (Cierra) Wilson and Damonte Sampson; a god sister, Keita Bailey; special friends, Aiesha (Ronald) Beasley, Janetta (James, Jr.) Skinner, Tyra (Mark) Young and Gary Stanley; nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins and close friends.

Preceded in death by her father, Wayne Demby, Sr., maternal grandfather, Ira Young, paternal grandparents, Arlene and Lester Demby, Sr., and maternal great-grandparents, Rev. Wilbert and Mary Woolford.

Quane will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
