Conchita Francine Slacum Walls, 58, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at the University of MD Shore Medical Center at Dorchester in Cambridge, MD with her loving husband by her side.
Connie or Heavy Chops, as her brother affectionately called her, was born May 7, 1961 to Kay Slacum and the late Weldon Young. She was raised in East New Market, MD and was a 1979 graduate of North Dorchester High School.
Over the course of her life, Connie worked various jobs such as Black & Decker, Cold Water Seafood Co., Country Pride and most recently the Christian Shelter in Salisbury, MD. Connie was known for her beautiful makeup and gorgeous hairstyles. She became fascinated with the beauty industry so in September of 2001, she enrolled in Del Mar Va Beauty Academy in Salisbury, MD and graduated in September of 2002.
After giving her life to Christ, in February of 1996, Connie met the love of her life, Milton Walls. On October 19, 1996, they joined together as one and spent the next 22 years in marital bliss. In that time, Connie served for 10 years on the staff of the first lady United Faith Church of Deliverance in Salisbury, MD under Bishop George A. Copeland. Then in 2006, the Walls’ joined New Beginnings Covenant Ministries and served for 12 years under Bishop Darryl Butts.
Though they bore no children of their own, the Walls’ shared their abundant love and affections by fostering children over the course of nine years.
In addition to her mother, Conchita is survived by her husband, Pastor Milton Walls of Cambridge, MD; three sisters, Gwendolyn (Daryl) Turner of Seaford, DE, Darlene Moulden of Baltimore, MD, Wilmeta Slacum of Hurlock, MD; one brother, Darrence (Sharon)Slacum of Easton, MD; grandmother, Mary Jenkins of Hurlock, MD; aunts, Mary Louise Sharp of Philadelphia, PA, Helen (Melvin) Young of Suffolk, VA, Rhoda Palmer of Hurlock, MD and Annette Wilson of Cambridge, MD; a great aunt, Lillian Slacum of East New Market, MD; a great uncle, John Slacum, of Columbus, OH; mother in-law, Varnell Walls of Cambridge, MD; father in-law, Milton Tilghman of Cambridge, MD; sisters in-law, Milly Ortiz of Cambridge, MD, Tamba Rideout of Cambridge, MD; brothers in-law, Anthony Ennals of Cambridge, MD, Jerome Jones of Baltimore, MD; two nieces whom she loved as her own, Tanisha Slacum of Hurlock, MD, Kajiyah Slacum of Easton, MD; a great niece, Malai’ah Holmes of Easton, MD and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Conchita was preceded in death by her father, Weldon Young, grandfather, James Edward Jolley, a host of aunts and uncles and a very special cousin, Yzetta Taylor.
Connie touched many lives with her infectious smile, uplifting spirit and most importantly, her prayers. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
