Odessa Mae (Bolden) ChesterJune 29, 1936 ~ November 6, 2017 (age 81)
Odessa Mae Bolden Chester, the daughter of the late James Satchel and Ida Bolden, was born in Reliance Maryland on June 29, 1936. She was the only child born to this union. She peacefully passed into God’s presence on Monday, November 6, 2017 at home.
She received her formal education from Hurlock Elementary and Frederick Douglas St. Clair High School in Cambridge, Maryland.
Odessa was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Cambridge, Maryland where she was a member of the Senior and Mass Choir.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, Roosevelt Chester. Together they shared a marriage of love, commitment and respect nearly fifty years.
Odessa was employed by Old Fashioned Food, Caroline Poultry, Western Printing and retired from Bumble Bee Tuna Company.
Odessa was well respected and loved by her family and friends. She enjoyed singing and listening to gospel music, cooking, dancing and conversing on the telephone with family and friends. Her signature style and flare for fashion was exhibited by her outfits which were never complete without a wide brim hat and high heels.
Rejoicing in her victory and cherishing precious memories with her husband, Roosevelt Chester (Cambridge, MD); four daughters, Gretha Sutten (Thomas) of New Jersey, Lisa Bolden (Cambridge, MD), Debra Bolden and Odetta Bolden (Federalsburg, MD); two sons, Milton Bolden (Denise) of Laurel, DE and Calvin Bolden (Vanessa) of Trappe, MD; a foster daughter, Teresa Saunders (Cambridge, MD); nineteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; one aunt, Catherine Bolden Lewis; three brothers in-law, Joseph Chester (Deanna), Leroy Chester (Loistine) and Jackie Chester; two sisters in-law, Ann Askins (Leon) of Cambridge, MD and JoAnn McCready (Darren) and a host of cousins and friends; four special friends, Delphine Warren, Mattie Boardley, Shellie Mathies and Georgia Davis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five uncles, three aunts and four brothers in-laws.
