Gladys Mae NixonOctober 14, 1958 ~ August 21, 2017 (age 58)
Gladys Mae Nixon, 58 of Easton went to be with the Lord on August 21, 2017 at University of Maryland Shore Medical @ Easton. She was better known as Cookie to her family and friends. Cookie was born October 14, 1958 in Talbot County to the late Gladys Mae Hollis and Spencer Nixon, Jr.
She attended public schools in Talbot County and graduated with the Class of 1977. Cookie continued her education at Chesapeake College in Wye Mills. Later she attended Kellys Beauty Academy in Dover.
Gladys held various jobs throughout her life time including Coldwater, Rite Aid, and the Whalen Company. She worked for a private family until her health began to fail. This family became part of her family and they treated her as family.
At an early age, she joined Williamsburg United Methodist Church, which later merged with Waters United Methodist Church. Gladys truly loved the Lord. Often when visiting her home, there was a sense of calmness. Her gospel music played in the background. Then there were times she was playing her oldie, but goodies.
Gladys had a love for gardening. If there are not any flowers planted around in heaven, you best believe she has her shovel, potting soil, stones, and flowers. She is going to do whatever it takes to plant those flowers. Cookie had a knack for decorating a house inside and out. That was one of her many talents she was known for.
Gladys leaves to cherish fond memories two children: Ja’Toyai Nixon of Trappe and Tajmiere Nixon, Sr of Easton; 8 grandchildren: Tymeah, Tajmiere, Jr., Tahjiere, Jahmiere, and Jordan Nixon all of Cambridge, Ja’Yonna and Jaylen Nixon, and Zaiden Parker all of Trappe; 2 brothers: Albert Nixon of Seattle, Washington, and Spencer Nixon of Cambridge; 2 sisters: Janet (Clifford) Jiles of Hurlock, and Florence (Don) Perron of Cambridge; one uncle Roland Nixon (Debbie) of Trappe; one aunt Ellen Ryans of Denton; a special nephew Shane Bell; and a special sister/friend, Rosalind Wilson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
