Emerson Leon Brown, known as “Tick” 69, departed this life November 11, 2017 at his home. Born February 8, 1949, on Cordtown Road to the late Emerson and Frances Chester Brown.
Tick as he was so affectionately called was a graduate of Maces Lane High School Class of 1966. He also attended Bowie State College for 2 ½ years. After leaving college he served in the United States Army, and spent time in Vietnam. Tick was employed at Airliquid America for over 30 years as a Mix Specialist until his retirement in May 2016. Everyone in the plant loved and respected him. They had even given him another nickname “Brownie.” Tick loved sports and he loved reading. You would always find him in his favorite chair with a game on the television or just sitting reading his papers.
In addition to his parents, Emerson was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Mamie Chester; and paternal grandparents: Russell and Elsie Brown.
Emerson leaves to cherish fond memories his companion of over 30 years, Elizabeth Beasley of Cambridge; step-daughter Katrina Woolford of Cambridge; granddaughter TerShyia Woolford of Cambridge; 2 sisters: Barbara Wheatley (Michael) of Cambridge, Elsie Brown Anderson (Andrew) of Cambridge; 1 nephew Brandon Emerson Brown (Katrina) of Cambridge; 2 nieces: Janell Johnson of Hartford, MD; and Sheryln Golden of Atlanta, GA; 2 great nephews: Troy Harris (Ashley) and Braylon Emerson Brown both of Cambridge; 3 great nieces: Kendra Fisher of Edgewood, MD; Janay Harris of Atlanta, GA, and Desire Brown of Cambridge; 2 great-great nephews: Josiah Harris and Jeremiah Harris both of Cambridge; 3 great-great nieces: Imani and Aubrie Brooks both of Edgewood; and Brielle Harris of Atlanta; I uncle Sam Brown (Gladys) of Cambridge; a special cousin that was just like a brother Danny Chester of Cambridge; 2 special childhood friends: Boyd Lee and George Lee both of Cambridge; and a host of special cousins, other relatives and friends.
