     Carrie Ann Merritt, 48 of Cambridge, departed this life on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017 at Univ. of MD Medical Center in   Baltimore, MD.

     Born June 4, 1969 in New Brunswick, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Rosemary Merritt. She was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County and was a graduate of Cambridge South Dorchester High School Class of 1987.

     She was employed for 31 years as a Dietary Aide for Mallard Bay Nursing Home.  Carrie Ann was a hardworker.  “Chocolate Baby” as she was affectionately called by her family, loved to laugh, get her hairdone, cook and eat.  She   enjoyed being around her family especially her grandchild.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by grandparents, Annie Badger, James Redmond and great great Madge Badger, great uncle Larry Badger Bey and two brothers, William Marshall and Kevin Kellogg Marshall. 

     Her memory will be cherished by her daughter, Shamara N. Demby (Cambridge); grandson, Draquan Young Jr. (Cambridge); three sisters, Pamela (Lamont) Jones and Mary (Jerry) Cornish, all of Cambridge and Michell (Tony) Rather (Waldorf, MD); sister in-law, Angie Marshall; brother in-law, James Hooper Jr. (Taylors Island, MD); two aunts, Joyce (Curtis) Opher and Singleton (Darryl) Riley (both of Cambridge; two uncles, James Redmond Jr. (Regina) and Algie Wheatley (New Bedford, MA); two special friends, William Lewis (Cambridge, MD) and Daona Barnes (Baltimore, MD) and a host of other relatives and friends.
